  1. Chill Old Fashioned Glass by placing in fridge/freezer or by filling with ice water and setting aside for 5 minutes (optional).
  2. Remove Old Fashioned Glass from fridge/freezer or if using ice water, empty the glass.
  3. Rinse Old Fashioned Glass by pouring 0.25 oz of Combier Liqueur D’Orange into the glass. Swirl the liquid around the glass then discard, leaving only a lining of liqueur in the Old Fashioned Glass.
  4. Fill Mixing Beaker about two thirds full with fresh ice.
  5. Measure and add bourbon, simple syrup and bitters to Mixing Beaker.
  6. Stir contents for about 30 seconds by using bar Spoon or teaspoon. (Note: when using a bar spoon, place shaft between your index and middle finger. Insert spoon into the beaker until spoon touches bottom. Keeping your arm and fingers still, use your wrist to turn the spoon in the beaker. The spoon will spin about in your fingers on its own axis.)
  7. Strain contents of Mixing Beaker using Julep Strainer into Old Fashioned Glass and top with fresh ice.
  8. Garnish with a smoking rosemary sprig.

nice spin on a classic

I’m not usually a bourbon drinker, so (for me) the syrup was CRUCIAL to my enjoyment of the cocktail. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by the leisurely sipping experience was for this specific mix of ingredients! If you aren’t typically a bourbon lover, I recommend you give this mix a try! The Cleveland Underground is a great bourbon choice!

A Classic!

Nice take on an old friend! We used less simple syrup the second time we had it with much better results.

I would have liked more smoke and less sweet. Ended up cutting the simple syrup in half.

I love an Old Fashioned, and this drink kicks it up a notch! The subtle hint of smoke and rosemary made this drink different than the original.

Don't skip the rosemary

Our resident drink maker initially balked at setting rosemary on fire (this writer/resident drink drinker mistakenly thought the rosemary was smoked already)—–so glad we made the drink as directed, it felt “elevated”and was super tasty.

Cleveland Whiskey is Smokin'!

The Cleveland Whiskey Smoky O.F. is a fun twist on a classic cocktail. The hickory flavor is unique and the presentation of ingredients was well done. Definitely give it a try!

Excellent and Unique Flavor

The smoky old fashioned was simply phenomenal. I love old fashioneds and this one was very smooth with a wonderful hint of campfire (in a good way). It was one of the better drinks I have had in a long time and I would strongly recommend it.

Cleveland rocks

Not the most experienced bourbon drinker – in Old fashions or otherwise – but this Courier tasting with Cleveland whiskey has made me a believer. The Cleveland, even to my untutored palette, is incredibly smooth and flavorful. If it wouldn’t have messed up the Old fashioned amounts, I’d have had much more Cleveland straight up. Something I never thought I’d be able to say about a brown alcohol. So to all you newbies – and I assume afficionados – Cleveland is the place to start and finish your bourbon expedition.
